Spotlight on Agriculture

Agriculture is this week’s focus and we’re digging deep for our spotlight of this journal. How has the journal flourished and what does it’s future look like?

A history of Agriculture

This journal, like many others, started life as a quarterly publication. The inaugural issue of the journal was launched in 2011. The first major success for the journal, being indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and Scopus came in 2016. The following year, in 2017, Agriculture adopted a monthly publication schedule and launched the first edition of its Travel Awards. 2018 was a milestone year, with Agriculture receiving its first CiteScore (2017) of 1.93 as well as publishing its 500th paper.

While 2019 was a quiet year, the journal was indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and received a CiteScore of 2.04. In a hugely important year, 2020 saw Agriculture receive its first Impact Factor (2.072) and be ranked 25/91 (Q2) in “Agronomy”.

Additions to the journal and growth of Agriculture

In publishing its 1000th paper, the journal expanded greatly and added a number of sections:

Further achievements and exciting news

The journal also had the first edition of its Outstanding Reviewer Award and it also had the first edition of its Best Paper Award.

Under the continued stewardship of Prof. Dr. Les Copeland, the Editor-in-Chief who served since the journal started, 2022 and 2023 saw further increases to the journal’s Impact Factor (3.408 and 3.6 in 2022 and 2023, respectively). Also, the journal hit another major milestone, and published its 5000th paper.
