With the media continuing to shape public opinion, ensure trust, and encourage democratic participation, free and universally accessible research into how it functions and affects society is highly important.
Journalism and Media (ISSN 2673-5172) is an Open Access journal of scientific research on the social, economic, political, and cultural dimensions of journalism and the media, with a special interest in their latest developments and transformations.

Editor-in-Chief
Professor Dr. Andreu Casero-Ripollés has served as Journalism and Media’s Editor-in-Chief since it began publishing in 2020.
Currently, Professor Dr. Casero-Ripollés serves as a Full Professor of Journalism at the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, Spain, with previous roles including the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Director of the Department of Communication Sciences.

Aims and Scope
The media arguably shapes nearly every domain of social life; it continues to face new challenges such as emerging digital technologies and the spread of fake news.
Journalism and Media therefore provides an advanced forum for interdisciplinary research on the rapidly evolving field of journalism and media and such challenges.
It publishes research articles, conceptual papers, and review papers, as well as Special Issues covering a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:
- Social media;
- Digital journalism;
- Health communication;
- Political communication;
- International communication;
- News production and consumption;

Most cited, viewed, and downloaded
The Journalism and Media publication with the highest number of citations, as of September 2026, is ‘Artificial Intelligence in News Media: Current Perceptions and Future Outlook’ which explores the adoption of AI across contemporary journalism practices.
On the other hand, currently holding the highest total paper downloads is ‘COVID-19-Related Social Media Fake News in India’. This article looks to contribute to the academic understanding of social media fake news during the COVID pandemic, using India as a case study.
Impact Factor
In the recent Journal Citation Reports announcement, Journalism and Media received an updated Impact Factor of 2.5.

Journalism and Media invites scholars to attend the 2nd International Online Conference on Administrative Sciences (IOCAS 2027), taking place virtually between 4 & 5 March 2027.

IOCAS aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and highlight both emerging trends and innovative approaches that are shaping organizations, as well as public- and private-sector management.
News organizations are central to understanding the modern dissemination of knowledge and themselves must be led, managed and funded. Therefore, topics such as newsroom leadership, media business models, and public versus private ownership, can be broadly exploring through its sessions.
