Innovations and Future Perspectives: Nanomaterials 2026

MDPI is pleased to be hosting the Nanomaterials 2026: Innovations and Future Perspectives conference. Taking place in Barcelona, Spain, the in-person event will run from 16 to 18 March 2026, bringing together industry professionals to share the latest nanomaterials research.

What is the purpose of Innovations and Future Perspectives?

The Nanomaterials conference aims to bring together researchers, industry professionals, and experts from around the globe to share the latest advancements, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations in the nanomaterials field and share insights around other smart materials.

The event programme is designed to provide an engaging platform for discussing cutting-edge research, emerging challenges and future directions in the field.

Schedule overview

The conference will host sessions on:

  • Nanomedicine and bionanotechnology
  • Nanomaterials for energy and catalysis
  • Nanophotonic, nanoelectrics, nanosenors and devices
  • Computational nanoscience
  • Environmental applications and implications of nanoscience and nanotechnology

The above sessions will be delivered by five invited speakers:

  • Dr. Miguel A. Bañares – Instituto De Catálisis Y Petroleoquímica, CSIC, Spain
  • Dr. Susana Loureiro – CESAM-Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies and Biology Department, University of Aveiro, Portugal
  • Dr. Andrew Nelson – School of Chemistry, University of Leeds, UK
  • Anastasios Papadiamantis – Entelos Institute, NovaMechanics, France
  • Nihal Engin Vrana – CEO at Spartha Medical, France

Alongside the invited speakers, there will be three keynote speakers giving talks throughout the event:

  • Kostas Kostarelos – ICREA Professor and Severo Ochoa Distinguished Professor leading the Nanomedicine Lab at Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2)
  • Arben Merkoci – ICREA Research Professor and Head of the Nanobioelectronics & Biosensors Group at ICN2
  • Dr. Gregory V. Lowry – Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University

Additionally, there will be a conference dinner held at the Gallery Hotel in the heart of Barcelona on 17 March. You can reserve your seat and food preference during the event’s registration process.

Event awards

MDPI is excited to offer two awards for participations of Nanomaterials 2026: Innovations and Future Perspectives. Sponsored by the journal Nanomaterials, the following awards will be presented at the conference:

Registration for Innovations and Future Perspectives will be open until 6 March 2026 – please note that the number of participants is limited.
