Trends in 2017—E-Conferences
2017 is being considered a year for technology breakthroughs. As part of this, virtual conferences, also known as electronic conferences (or e-conferences), are gaining popularity in the academic field.
E-conferences are scholarly events held online for a limited period, including on Sciforum, MDPI’s platform for scholarly exchange. As they are online, anyone can attend from almost anywhere. During the conference participants can discuss via the conference pages, providing a networking and learning opportunity. Proceedings papers and discussions are directly archived on Sciforum. Typically, electronic conferences on Sciforum are free to participate for both presenters and attendees. E-conferences have the advantage of being engaging, widely accessible, and eco-friendly!
For further details on how to submit an abstract and manuscript, the means of participation, publication of papers and so on, visit our website.
Some upcoming e-conferences being held by MDPI on Sciforum include:
The 2nd International Electronic Conference on Atmospheric Sciences
As the 1st International Electronic Conference on Atmospheric Sciences, organized last year, was a great success and feedback from participants indicated that they were satisfied with this format and would like to see the meeting grow, we are pleased to announce its sequel. For the second electronic conference in atmospheric sciences, the range of topics will remain more general, including Atmospheric Physics, Atmospheric Chemistry, Synoptic and Dynamic Meteorology, Regional Climate and Interannual Variability, Tropical Meteorology.
The conference will be held on-line from 16th to 31st of July 2017, and will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Anthony R. Lupo. Further details about the conference can be found on our website.
3rd International Electronic Conference on Medicinal Chemistry
Further to the success of the two first editions, Pharmaceuticals, a peer-reviewed journal edited by MDPI, is proud to organize and sponsor the 3rd International Electronic Conference on Medicinal Chemistry. Contributions dealing with any discipline promoting research in drug discovery and development will be welcome.
The conference will be held online from 1st until 30th of November 2017. It will enable you to share your recent results with scientists of academic and industrial groups from all over the world. Moreover, this year, as a sponsor, Pharmaceuticals would like to award the best presentation as elected by all the organizers. The Award will consist of 500 Swiss Francs.

First International Electronic Conference on the Hydrological Cycle
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 1st International Electronic Conference on the Hydrological Cycle (CHyCle-2017), which will take place from 12 to 16th of November 2017, its main aim being to advance towards a better understanding of the Hydrological Cycle, including its observed changes and projections under future climate. The topics of the conference will cover mainly the following subtopics: global distribution of water vapor, source-sink relationships and methodologies, global source and sink regions of moisture and processes, extreme events, low-level jets, warm pools, monsoons, eco-hydrological modelling, water resources management and impacts of climate change.

4th International Electronic Conference on Sensors and Applications
We are pleased to announce the 4th International Electronic Conference on Sensors and Applications. After the success of the three editions from 2014 to 2016, this year edition will focus on 5 thematic areas where sensors are changing science: biosensors (Session A), chemical sensors (Session B), physical sensors (Session C), sensor networks (Session D), applications (Session E). Moreover, there will be 2 specific sessions: smart cities (Specific Session S1), smart sensing systems and structures (Specific Session S2) and also a Poster session.
The conference is sponsored by the Journal Sensors and will be held on our online platform, from 15th to 30th of November 2017. Further details about the conference can be found at https://sciforum.net/conference/ecsa-4.
