Spotlight on Journal of Clinical Medicine

This month, MDPI’s Journal of Clinical Medicine takes the spotlight. The well-established journal publishes articles, reviews, editorials and communications about the most recent and up to date clinical-research. This encompasses all aspects of clinical medicine, from cardiology and immunology, to public health.

Lets have a look at the history, its journey and growth.

A History of JCM

Growth and Milestones

The Journal was first established in 2012, with the inaugural issue first released, and then published on a montly basis.  Within 3 years the journal was indexed in Web of Science and PubMed Central, and received its first impact factor by 2018.

The journal celebrated its 10,000th published paper in 2021, and was then indexed in Scopus – Elsevier. The following year, JCM hit its 10th anniversary and received its new impact factor of 3.9. As of 2018, Prof. Dr. Emmanuel andres, of University Hospital Strasbourg,  holds the position of Editor-in-Chief for JCM.

Exciting additions to JCM

Throughout the years, the journal has added and refined their sections according to the research output. As of the end of 2023, the journal has 35 sections. Some of these sections include:

  • Cardiology
  • Cardiovascular medicine
  • Clinical neurology
  • Endocrinology & metabolism
  • Obstetrics & gynecology
  • Dentistry, oral surgery and oral medicine

Since its establishment, JCM has been affiliated with many societies across the globe. This includes the Spanish Society of Hematology and Hemotherapy, Nuclear Medicine Discovery, Italian Society of Thoracic Endoscopy, International Bone Research Association and many more.
