The 5th World Sustainability Forum
The 5th World Sustainability Forum (WSF2015) will take place at the Zentrum für Lehre und Forschung in Basel between 7 and 9 September 2015. WSF2015 is organized by MDPI and the University of Basel. The organizers, headed by Prof. Manfred Max Bergman, have put together an outstanding program to highlight the most significant sustainability challenges currently facing the global community.

We were thrilled to have four distinguished keynote lecturers that contributed to the forum. We were excited to hear what were able to contribute to the theme this year. Because of their knowledge and expertise, we also hope that they will continue to further inspire future generations of researchers.
- Prof. Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director of The Earth Institute, Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University, Director of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and Special Advisor to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the Millennium Development Goals, who will give a live video conference from his office in New York.
- Prof. Klaus Leisinger, President of the Global Values Alliance Foundation and Professor of Sociology of University of Basel.
- Dr. Aldo Stroebel, Executive Director, International Relations and Cooperation, National Research Foundation, South Africa.
- Prof. Marc A. Rosen, Professor at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, in Canada, Editor-in-Chief of the Open Access journal Sustainability, and Chair of the four previous electronic editions of the World Sustainability Forum.
Presentations at WSF2015
The 5th World Sustainability Forum comprised 226 presentations across five main thematic streams. It brought together more than 350 participants from 45 countries. The forum was supported by the journal Sustainability, published by MDPI.
It is no longer possible to register or participate in the conference. The website, Sciforum.net, however, houses many of the details of WSF 2015. We encourage anyone who is interested in the topic of the event, taking stock of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, to review the information provided on the site.
