Conference: Harnessing the Power of New Drug Modalities
There is a month to go before the submission deadline for the 4th Molecules Medicinal Chemistry Symposium (MMCS). Taking place in beautiful Barcelona, Spain, from April 24th to 26th, 2024, this conference will address “Harnessing the Power of New Drug Modalities.” Following the successful MMCS2019 and MMCS2022 conferences, MDPI (publisher of Molecules) will maintain the popular three-day format. With the deadline for submissions approaching, here we go over important details you need to know about this exciting conference.
4th MMCS: Harnessing the Power of New Drug Modalities
This year, the major topic of discussion will be the power of new drug modalities. The conferences thematic sessions will address fascinating topics like photoactivatable drugs, candidates that hit RNA and epigenetic targets, and covalent modifiers.
The first MMCS conference, in 2017, was on the topic of “Emerging Drug Discovery Approaches against Infections Diseases“. MMCS2019 addressed “Novel Challenges in Drug Discovery“. And MMCS2022 looked at ideas that were “Shaping Medicinal Chemistry for the New Decade“. The topic for MMCS2024 feels both timely and important. A natural evolution of the conferences that came before, MMCS2024 will cover many fascinating topics as the state-of-the-art continues to move forward.
In addition to the aforementioned topics, the 4th MMCS will also cover the use of more classical approaches for the development of new anti-cancer agents. Other medicinal chemistry projects will also be covered.
The first three forums (held in 2017, 2019, and 2012) were held in various locations with MDPI’s event platform, Sciforum supporting the event. Held once again in sunny Barcelona, we are excited to see all this year’s participants at the event. A reminder that this event is an in-person event only, and it is not possible to participate online.
What is the Molecules Medicinal Chemistry Symposium?
The purpose of the Molecules Medicinal Chemistry Symposium is to bring together subject-matter experts to discuss the state-of-the-art in many areas of medicinal chemistry. In previous years, the topics have ranged from infectious diseases to drug discovery. But the aim has always been to discuss topics of broad relevance to a wide range of researchers and academics.
Clearly, the goals of this symposium have evolved over time, and will continue to change as time goes by.
Why did MDPI launch the symposium?
Molecules is one of MDPI’s largest and most successful journals and has always aimed to contribute to the community.
According to the Welcome from the Chairs from MMCS2017, the aims were:
The 1st MMCS seeks to gather together experts in the field of medicinal chemistry of anti-infective agents, and aims to provide a forum for discussion regarding novel drug structural classes, therapeutic approaches, biological targets, and resistance mechanisms, which can pave the way for the development of optimized therapies against bacterial, protozoan, viral, and fungal infections.
Molecules has continued to contribute in many different ways to the research community. Learn more about Molecules here.
The 4th MMCS
MMCS2024 will have six sessions, each with its own subject matter and guest speakers.
- Molecules against Cancer
- Photopharmalogical Approaches
- RNA-Targeting Small Molecule Drugs and Degraders
- Modulation of Epigenetic Targets
- Covalent Drug Discovery
- Medicinal Chemistry Tales
Each session will have two distinguished invited speakers, as well as poster presentations and social events. We’re pleased to announce that speakers such as Prof. Dr. Paul Brennan, Prof. Dr. Arun K. Gosh, and Prof. Dr. Xiaoguang Lei will be joining us at the event.
Participating in the 4th Molecules Medicinal Chemistry Symposium
We encourage the submission of abstracts for the 4th Molecules Medicinal Chemistry Symposium. Participating in this conference is something that can help the dissemination of ideas to the wider community and allows a bigger platform for visibility.
To submit an abstract, be sure to visit the Sciforum platform. You can also register online to participate in the event, and directions to get to all of the venues, be it by plane or train, are available on the website. We look forward to seeing you there!
Don’t forget, the early-bird registration deadline is February 27th, 2024. Regular registration deadline is the 13th of April, 2024.
